Shellie Herring and Judy Thompson of First Baptist Church of Eupora, Miss., are creating a Shoebox Tree in preparation for Sunday’s “Blessing of the Shoeboxes,” that will be held in churches nationwide this weekend.
Shoebox packing parties and Sunday morning’s “Blessing of the Shoeboxes” are part of special church-wide efforts to send the LOVE of God and special Christmas gifts to needy children around the world through Operation Christmas.
Once boxes have been blessed at church, volunteers pack them up and send them to local Collection Centers. A Collection Center should be located in every county. They are typically sponsored by a local church.
National Shoebox Collection Week is always the third week of November. Volunteers collect boxes during National Collection Week, and send them to regional offices, where boxes are checked to make sure inappropriate items are not in the boxes, shipping costs are collected and shoeboxes are packed to be shipped to various countries.
Other shoeboxes are created
