Mrs. Pearl Cooper celebrated her 100th birthday on June 2 with family, friends and neighbors in the Alva Community. Mrs. Cooper worked at the Hosiery Mill in Grenada for many years, then worked as a homemaker. She has two daughters, three grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mrs. Cooper said she has lived in the Alva Community since she married her husband, the late Henry Cooper. She is a long-time member of Alva Baptist Church.
“I just thank the good Lord that I have lived this long,” Cooper said. “And that I am ‘healthy as a horse’ and feel good.”
Mrs. Pearl said her biggest accomplishment was “living the best I can and raising my family.”
