Rev. Travis Gray kicked off the Lenten Lunch Series today at First United Methodist Church of Eupora with a “Message from the Cross” about justification. The series continues at noon each Wednesday during Lent to hear various speakers from throughout the area share “A Message from the Cross” and have a soup and sandwich lunch for a donation to the FUMC Eupora “We Care” local mission fund.

Bland discusses Christ’s human side on the cross at today’s Lenten Lunch
Rev. Hugh Bland of Walthall Baptist Church was the guest speaker at today’s Lenten Lunch at Eupora’s First United Methodist Church. Rev. Bland discussed Christ’s human side as the Last Words of Christ on the Cross Series continues with the words, “I Thirst!” Bland asked the audience to consider the most thirsty you have ever been and magnify that with the pain and agony Christ was in. He also suggested Christ’s thirst was not only a physical thirst, but a spiritual thirst. Gail Dorroh of Walthall Baptist Church performed two songs at today’s event.
Join us next week as Lenten Lunch continues at 11:45 a.m. April 1 with Rev. Rochelle Ashford-Minor of Liberty UMC as the guest speaker. A soup and sandwich lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall. The public is invited to attend.

Harper discusses fasting as part of Lenten Lunch series
Rev. Trey Harper of Eupora’s FUMC said fasting for the sake of denial is to miss the point … fasting is about transformation…for making room for God’s presence in our lives. Harper was the guest speaker at today’s Lenten Lunch at Eupora First United Methodist Church. Join us next week as the Lenten Lunch series continues at noon Wednesday at Eupora FUMC’s fellowship hall.

Pepper entertains at Lenten Lunch
Jeep Pepper, pastor at McAdams UMC and former pastor of Lebanon UMC, speaks on the importance of Bible study at Eupora First United Methodist Church’s Lenten Lunch series. Luncheons will be held from noon until 1 p.m. each Wednesday during Lent in the church fellowship hall. The community is invited to attend.
