Columbus FUMC will have a ‘smashing’ good time this Sunday

First it was the Imagine No Malaria challenge video, then members of First UMC Columbus assembled the collection boxes to be used to raise money for mosquito nets that help save lives, and now, they are beating up a car.

Elizabeth Swartz of First UMC Columbus said this Sunday, Oct. 30 at the Annual Fall Festival, there will be a special fundraiser to buy nets while raising awareness for this project.

Swartz said they will have a “Smash Malaria” car! They plan to cover an old car with pictures of mosquitoes and charge a $1 for three smashes at the car. All proceeds will go to the No More Malaria Campaign. They will also be distributing Imagine No Malaria offering boxes, information sheets and return labels for the offering. Continue reading →

Tucker is looking forward to becoming ‘part of the family’

Matt Tucker, the new pastor for Bellefontaine and Lebanon United Methodist Churches, said he is most looking forward to “becoming part of the family.”

“I hope to love and be loved by the people at both churches and in the community,” Tucker said. “I definitely am looking forward to meeting people and learning about the churches history and where each of the members are in their personal journey in life. Forest First UMC welcomes the Harper family

Honoring the ministry of the Harper family at First UMC Eupora

First United Methodist Church of Eupora will celebrate the ministry of Rev. Trey Harper and his family on his final Sunday to worship as the pastor of the church.

The church will be hosting a farewell reception for the Harper Family on Sunday, June 15 from 4-6 p.m. in the church Fellowship Hall to give church members and the community an opportunity to say goodbye to the Harpers. The community is invited to come and offer its thanks and prayers for a happy transition to Forest. A “love offering” will be taken for those wishing to express their appreciation.

First UMC honors Harper family Sunday

When the announcement was made, there was not a “dry eye in the house.”

For First United Methodist Church of Eupora, it was heartbreaking to hear the news that their well-loved pastor of seven years, Rev. Trey Harper, and his family have been re-appointed to First UMC in Forest.
