A little history about Ash Wednesday…
It is a time to remember and reflect. It is celebrated all over the world, and today, there will be a variety of services for Ash Wednesday.
At Eupora First United Methodist Church, Ash Wednesday services will be held at noon and at 6 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The noon service will be a time of prayer (and if you desire) the “imposition of ashes.” This will be a “come and go” service which ends at 12:30 p.m.
The 6 p.m. service will be a short service of worship, with music, scripture, prayer and “imposition of ashes.” Continue reading

It is a time to remember and reflect. It is celebrated all over the world, and today, people will remember the passion and the purpose of Jesus Christ as they participate in a variety of services for Ash Wednes
day.
Rev. Trey Harper, pastor of Forrest First United Methodist Church in Forest, Miss. said, the Season of Lent is the time in which the church “slows down to prepare our hearts for the Passion of Christ and the Glories of Resurrection Sunday.” Harper said in Western Christianity, Ash Wednesday marks the first day, or the start of, the season of Lent, which begins 40 days prior to Easter, not including Sundays, because every Sunday is to be treated as a Celebration of the Resurrected Christ.
