Chris Latimer of Columbus First United Methodist Church, said he was “honored and humbled” to be selected for the position of Starkville District Chancellor.
“Every day I try to pray that I make the best use of any skill or talent with which the Lord has provided me,” Latimer said. “I hope to live up to that prayer in serving as District Chancellor. I really appreciate the opportunity to serve the District and look forward to it!”
Rev. Dr. Embra Jackson said “blessed” is the word that comes to mind when he thinks about Latimer serving as the Starkville District Chancellor.
“His predecessor, Attorney Ronnie Roberts, served very faithfully and was a very positive impact in our district through volunteering as our district chancellor for a number of years,” Jackson said. “We were overwhelmed when Ronnie recommended Chris to replace him as the district chancellor. We look forward to Chris being in ministry with us.”
Latimer brings 12 years of legal experience in various subject matter that will assist him in fielding calls and providing legal services, from time to time, on various issues affecting the Starkville District.
“Combine (my legal experience) with my love for, and affiliation with, the United Methodist Church,” said Latimer, “(I hope) to play some small role in furthering the Church’s mission of making, growing, and sending disciples of Christ.”
Latimer has been married to Cassandra Roberts Latimer of Millington, Tenn. For just over 20 years. They are the proud parents of a 9-year old daughter, Sarah Ross Latimer. They attend First United Methodist Church in Columbus, where Chris serves as a youth small group leader and he also plays drums in the praise band. Cassandra sings in the choir and has been active in various committees and children’s ministries.
