It all began when members of Cumberland Baptist Church took a mission trip to New York to work in the community where Harvest Bible Fellowship Church is located.
As an extension of friendship, the New York church wanted to return the favor for the benefit of the Webster County community.
Twelve members of Harvest Bible Fellowship Church will conduct the “Backyard Bible Club at the Lake,” from 9-11:30 a.m. July 20-23 at the pavilion at White’s Creek Lake. Children, ages 6 -12 years old are invited. The week will close with a Block Party/Carnival in the grassy lot by the Department of Health (DHS) building on Highway 9 South on Friday, July 24, from 6-8 p.m. This event is sponsored by the churches of the Webster Baptist Association and Harvest Bible Fellowship Church of the Finger Lakes Baptist Association of New York.
“It is always a good thing when we reach out as a group of churches to those in our community,” said Webster County Missions Director Martin Jacks. “As believers in Jesus, we have a responsibility to share Him with the world, which includes our community. God always blesses this effort and one of the blessings comes from churches working together. When we strive to do God’s will, He always blesses.”
Rev. Travis Gray of First Baptist Church of Eupora said this event is an opportunity for churches “to come together to serve the community and share the gospel of Jesus.”
“Nothing can change lives for eternity like the gospel of Jesus,” Gray said. “May we ask ourselves, ‘what can we do to change our world where God has placed us?’ This is an opportunity to form friendships have can last into heaven.”
