“It’s my prayer that we will experience the powerful, presence of the Lord,” Herring said. “I always look forward to worship, and this is no different. I am looking forward to worshiping the Lord with the people of God. It is absolutely the most important thing we do every week.”
The First Baptist Church of Eupora’s Easter Cantata will be Sunday, March 26, at 6 p.m. The FBC Orchestra will be playing and Rev. Travis and Angela Gray will be narrating.
This year’s performance will be “Salvation’s Story,” a very uplifting, contemporary worship musical, centered on the message of the cross and rejoices in the resurrection of the Lord.
“The hope is that everyone will celebrate and worship as we praise our redeemer in singing the gospel story,” Herring said. “We have so much to be thankful for. Because we are sinners and God is Holy, there had to be a payment for our sins. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins at the cross. Then He conquered death and proved it when He rose on the third day. This is the good news! We have a Savior! So as we gather for the Easter Cantata, we are coming to offer our praise and worship to Him.”
Salvation’s Story will feature the FBC Eupora Choir, with several solos throughout the performance from Lorrie Boatman, Audrey Hood, John Faulkenbery and a duet, sung by Stephanie and Bill Stewart.
The FBC Orchestra will be accompanying the choir this year.
“We are so blessed by the instrumentalists here at First Baptist,” Herring said. “Terry Cain is amazing on the piano as is his wife, Lydia, on the organ.”
Other members of the FBC Orchestra include Sheila Bailey playing the synthesizer, Joe Thompson playing bass, Will Selby playing lead guitar, and Evan Alderman playing drums.
“Easter is a very special time of year,” said Rev. Travis Gray of FBC Eupora. “It reminds up of the greatest fact in all of history – Jesus is alive. He gives every heart something to sing about. You do not want to miss (the Easter Cantata). I want to invite you to come and be blessed. Let us all sing with our lives: Hallelujah, Christ has risen!”
