I saw this article in the Sunday edition of The Columbus Dispatch and just had to find the photos from our tour of The Holiday Express in December 2007 in Tupelo. Photos from our adventure were published in the January 2008 edition of North Mississippi Christian Family, but I only saved the photos in black and white… I hate that I can’t find the color originals because it is spectacular… stop by and see for yourself tonight in West Point!
In December (2007), Allen Pepper of Starkville invited us to take a special tour of the Kansas City Southern Holiday Express, which pulled in to Tupelo on Dec. 2 (2007). Georgia and Maggie Sisson had a great time visiting the special train and taking a tour of the executive train known as the Southern Belle. The weather outside was frightful, but everyone had a delightful time.
Children love the Holiday Express that made only four stops in Mississippi this year. At every stop, a contribution of Wal-Mart gift cards was made to the local Salvation Army to provide warm clothing for children in need, thanks to the generous contributions of KCS’ employees, vendors and friends.
KCS uses over 10,000 lights for this special train.
Santa’s sleigh is one of the unique cars on the Holiday Express.
We also had a special tour of the Southern Belle, the executive train… it will not be available for public tours at tonight’s event in West Point.
