Thomas to hold leadership training for police department

Thomas Leadership Consultants have been approved by the Board on Law Enforcements Standards and Training to provide leadership training. The Louisville Police Department training is set for Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Lake Tiak-O-Khata. Officers completing this training may receive in-service CEU’s. The classroom courses may provide up to four hours of credits and the online courses may provide up to two hours of credits.
“Thomas Leadership Consultant’s courses will help police leaders maximize their effectiveness and better understand what it takes to build, develop, and maintain an exceptional team,” Thomas said.
“Police management can spend so much time training and reinforcing the tactical skills of police officers that oftentimes they can neglect the importance of training all police personnel on how to be effective leaders, communicators, and problem solvers, which is so crucial to daily job success in any career opportunity,” said Louisville Police Chief L.M. Claiborne. “Essential Skills of Leadership and Thomas Leadership Consultants is an excellent training program not only for police personnel, but any employee in any company or organization.”
This leadership program was initially developed for the police department in Greenwood. The Greenwood Mayor and Chief of Police were so impressed with it that they suggested Thomas try to get it approved at the state level for all officers. The Louisville Police Chief also helped to get the program approved state-wide.
“Myself and 18 of my officers attended this four hours of training,” said Greenwood Police Chief Raymond Moore. “I think this should be mandatory training for all personnel in a supervisory position.”
Thomas Leadership Consultants, LLC also provides human resources, business consulting, employee and work team training throughout the state, but focuses primarily on Winston County. Additionally, they provide job referral services to local and surrounding area employers, as well as helping job seekers with resume and cover letter development service, career coaching, assistance with completing job applications and prep interviews.
